Single Family Housing Rehabilitation Forgivable Loan:
This rehab program assists eligible homeowners in the repair of their homes so that they meet applicable City or County Code standards. Leaking roofs, faulty electrical, plumbing systems, unsafe flooring, inoperable furnaces, and water heaters are a few examples of the types of problems that are addressed by this program. Connection costs for utilities such as water, sewer, or gas lines are also eligible for funding. General home improvements are not eligible.

Eligibility requirements include the following:
A. The applicant must own and occupy the property to be rehabilitated.

B. The applicant must not have previously received Rehabilitation Assistance that fully brought the house up to County Code Standards.

C. The property must be located in a Community Development Priority Target or Housing Impact Area, unless the applicant is over the age of 62 or is certified by Social Security for disability benefits. In those cases, the property may be located in unincorporated DeKalb County or in any of the cooperating jurisdictions within the County. However, residents within the incorporated city limits of Atlanta are not eligible.

Low Interest Rate Loans:
This program allows for the same housing rehabilitation assistance, but in the form of a 0% to 3% loan rather than a forgivable loan. Residents that meet the eligibility criteria may reside anywhere in DeKalb County; outside the City of Atlanta.
