Hairston Lake Apartments
Hairston Lake is a Housing Choice Program New Construction project, with an executed Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) Contract with HUD. This contract allows the Housing Authority to bill HUD monthly for the difference in the amount of the rent paid by tenants and the actual rent.
Hairston Lake Apartments is situated on 17 park-like acres in east-central DeKalbCounty, just off North Hairston Road. The complex consists of 170 one-bedroom units in 12 buildings, fourteen (14) of which are designed especially for individuals with special accommodation needs.
An administration building, a maintenance shop, a community room, craft room, library, resource room, and laundry facilities are all on-site. A lake is also located on the property with park benches available for seating and viewing the many ducks and geese that have adopted Hairston Lake as their permanent place of residence.
Built in 1979, Hairston Lake has very low resident turnover. Hairston Lake maintains its own waiting list. Applications are accepted Monday through Friday between 9 AM and 5 PM at the on-site management office. For more information call 404-296-4116.
Many seniors prefer Hairston Lake for its convenient location (grocery store and shops only blocks away) as well as year-round activities for residents, including special events, lectures, classes, and several annual field trips.
Rent is affordable based on a resident's income. Apartments at Hairston Lake are available for seniors and the disabled.
